This module provides an
introduction to some of the main legal problems generated by recent
developments in information technology and e-Commerce, and their possible
solutions. Topics to be covered include copyright, patent protection for
software and business methods, domain name disputes and other intellectual
property issues on the Internet, contractual issues of on-line trading,
public key infrastructure and electronic transactions, privacy and data
protection. |
Objectives |
To enable students to understand the main
legal issues arising from information technology and e-commerce, and to
analyse and solve common practical legal problems in these regards. |
Learning outcomes |
At the end of this module, students who fulfill the requirements will be
able to:
- Explain the main legal issues arising from information
technology and e-commerce.
- Identify and analyse practical legal problems commonly
encountered in information technology and e-commerce.
- Describe and formulate solutions to some of the legal
problems referred to in 2 above.
